The smallest of the birds known as parrots. A Parrotlet's lifespan is approx. 20 yrs. Sex can be distinguished by the males cobalt blue flight feathers and blue streak that is located from the eyes to back of the birds neck. The female has the streak but its ligher and of a blue green color. There are several color mutations in Parrotlets. they are closely akin to the Amazon parrots. Their diets include: fresh fruit, veggies seed and pellets. Do not feed these birds chocolate, alchohol or avocados. Do not give a Parrotlet grit. Parrotlets are very active and can make very good pets.
