For the most part Cockatoos are white, but can be had in other colors such as blue, gray, pink and black. They are native of Australia and it's surrounding islands. They have a lifespan of up to 60 years. They eat the usual parrot fare of fresh veggies and fruits and seed. Do not feed them avacado, chocolate or alcohol. You can even feed these birds some meat (chicken or turkey) and low fat dairy items such as cheeses. They are a larger bird so a larger cage or inclosure is appropiate. They, like other parrots should be showered in a light shower or misted with a water bottle for occasional cleansing. Cockatoos can be loud birds and not all are talkers. They can be very affectionate pets. They can be destructive, as they are chewers. All and all they can be very good pets and have a sizable following. |
